Australia captain Pat Cummins has indicated that he may step away from franchise cricket next year in order to focus on international commitments ahead of the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.
According to media reports, Cummins said he would have to make an important decision regarding his cricketing future next year. He has made it clear that the decision would not involve retiring from either Test or One-Day International cricket.
Cummins said he would discuss the matter with his franchise and assess what would be the best course of action.
The Australian fast bowler has acknowledged that he could miss the 2027 Indian Premier League as Australia prepare for a demanding international schedule that includes a Test tour of India, the Ashes series and the ODI World Cup.
Cummins, who has captained Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL, said his priority remains Test cricket and Australia's campaign at the 2027 World Cup.
