The Provincial Disaster Management Authority has issued a weather alert for Punjab, warning of rain, strong winds and hail across several districts from June 2 to June 5.
According to the PDMA, rain is likely in most districts of Punjab during the four-day spell. The weather system may bring wind, rain and hail to different parts of the province.
The authority has advised citizens to remain alert and follow safety instructions during thunderstorms.
Rain is expected in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Bhakkar, Layyah and Faisalabad. The PDMA also predicted rain in Jhang, Okara, Gujranwala and Hafizabad.
According to the spokesperson, Sargodha, Mianwali, Sheikhupura, Khushab and Mandi Bahauddin may also receive rain.
The weather alert also covers Sialkot, Narowal, Faisalabad, Jhang and surrounding areas. Authorities said the rain spell could be accompanied by strong winds and hail in parts of Punjab.
Commissioners and deputy commissioners across the province have been issued alerts.
Citizens advised to avoid open areas
PDMA Director General Umar Javed urged citizens to stay in safe places to avoid lightning strikes. He advised people not to stand in open areas during thunderstorms.
The public has been asked to avoid unnecessary movement during severe weather conditions. Javed said farmers should take all precautionary measures while keeping weather conditions in mind.
Tourists traveling to northern areas have also been advised to remain cautious. The PDMA said safety measures are necessary to prevent damage and protect lives during the expected rain and hail spell.
