Water supply to large parts of Karachi was suspended after a power breakdown at the Dhabeji Pumping Station, according to the Karachi Water Corporation.
The disruption occurred after an electricity failure at the pumping station. The Water Corporation said a forced shutdown was carried out to facilitate repair work. A spokesperson said 10 of the 21 pumping units at the Dhabeji Pumping Station went offline as a result of the shutdown.
The city's water transmission system was severely affected, leading to the suspension of supply in several areas.
Officials said K-Electric initially informed the Karachi Water Corporation of a one-hour shutdown. However, no final information has yet been provided regarding the complete restoration of electricity.
The spokesperson said the Water Corporation administration is continuously monitoring the situation and remains in contact with K-Electric to secure the early restoration of power.
Residents have been advised to use water carefully and avoid unnecessary consumption until normal supply resumes.
