Preparations for the federal budget 2026-27 have entered a crucial stage, with the Annual Plan Coordination Committee (APCC) scheduled to meet on Monday to review development priorities and major economic targets for the coming fiscal year.
Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal will chair the meeting, which is expected to shape key recommendations for the upcoming budget and annual economic plan.
According to sources, the committee will examine the country's development strategy and major economic goals for the next financial year. The meeting will focus on setting key macroeconomic targets that will guide the federal budget and development agenda for 2026-27.

Officials are expected to discuss economic growth projections, sectoral performance targets and development priorities.
Decisions expected on PSDP, provincial development
The committee will consider matters related to the federal Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) as well as provincial development plans.
Important decisions are expected regarding the allocation of development resources and coordination between federal and provincial governments.
The meeting will also review proposals for new development initiatives and ongoing public sector projects.
Budget allocations for ministries under review
Sources said the APCC will recommend budget allocations for various federal ministries and divisions.

These recommendations will help determine how development funds are distributed across different sectors and government departments in the upcoming fiscal year.
Federal development budget size
One of the key agenda items will be determining the size of the federal development budget.
The committee is also expected to set the GDP growth target for the next fiscal year, which will serve as a benchmark for economic planning and policy implementation.
The meeting will establish growth targets for Pakistan’s agriculture, industrial and services sectors. These sectors are considered critical to economic expansion, employment generation and overall national development.
Officials will assess expected performance and set goals aimed at supporting sustainable economic growth.
Inflation target to be set
The APCC is also expected to determine the average inflation target for the upcoming financial year. The inflation outlook will play an important role in shaping fiscal policy, development spending and broader economic planning.

Sources said priorities for new development projects will be discussed during the meeting. The committee is also expected to review and approve annual economic plans that will form the foundation of the federal government's development strategy for the next fiscal year.
Recommendations on June 3
Following the APCC meeting, its recommendations will be presented to the National Economic Council (NEC) on June 3. The NEC will review the proposals before final decisions are incorporated into the federal budget framework for 2026-27.
