Public transport fares have been reduced after petroleum product prices were cut by Rs22 per litre, bringing direct relief for passengers in Lahore and Faisalabad.
Authorities have warned that buses and depots failing to implement the new fares will face strict action, including sealing.
Lahore transport fares cut by 4%
An important meeting was held at Transport House under the chairmanship of the Regional Transport Authority Lahore secretary.
Representatives of all private transport companies and transporters attended the meeting and agreed to reduce fares by 4%. RTA Secretary Rana Mohsin said the fare reduction will be implemented immediately.

New fares to be displayed immediately
Mohsin said all transporters will be required to display the new fares with a 4% reduction without delay. He said the relief from lower fuel prices must reach the public directly.
The secretary warned that buses and depots that do not reduce fares will be sealed.
Faisalabad fares reduced by 5%
In Faisalabad, transport fares have been reduced by 5% following the decline in petroleum product prices. Passengers travelling on different routes will get relief of Rs150 to Rs200.

Officials said the new fares have come into effect and transporters have been instructed to implement them immediately.
Action promised against overcharging
The RTS secretary in Faisalabad said action will be taken against transporters charging excessive fares. Authorities said enforcement teams will monitor implementation to ensure passengers receive the benefit of the fuel price reduction.
