Gilgit-Baltistan Police have detained PTI Provincial President Junaid Akbar, according to the party, after he arrived in Gilgit to participate in a PTI rally.
According to PTI, Junaid Akbar was first stopped at a police check post. The party said he was later detained by Gilgit-Baltistan Police.
PTI claimed the detention took place at Hanzal location in Gilgit. MNA Salimur Rehman, Dr Amjad, Mehboob Shah and the chief coordinator were also detained, as per the PTI.
The party's Gilgit chapter later added that the leader was expelled from the province, along with MNA Rehman, Shah, and Dr Khan.

Junaid Akbar says he was asked to leave Gilgit
Junaid Akbar said he was told that he did not have a no-objection certificate.
“I was told that you don’t have NOC, so you should leave Gilgit,” he said, according to PTI. The party said he had arrived in the city to take part in a PTI rally.

PTI said the incident occurred when Junaid Akbar reached Gilgit for political activity. The party maintained that he was stopped before being taken into custody.
