At least 17 passengers were killed and six others injured after a van collided with a passenger bus on the Swat Expressway near Ismaila, rescue officials said.
According to initial reports, the bus was parked on the side of the road when the van rammed into it from behind. Meanwhile, eight of the deceased remained unidentified.
Rescue officials said the accident occurred due to the negligence of the van driver, who allegedly failed to control the vehicle and struck the parked bus from the rear.
The Motorway Police spokesperson also confirmed that the collision involved a van and a bus on the Swat Expressway.
As soon as the accident was reported, Motorway Police reached the spot and launched rescue operations. All bodies and injured passengers were shifted to Mardan Medical Complex for medico-legal formalities and treatment, the spokesperson said.
The MMC administration said the injured were being provided with the best medical assistance, while instructions had been issued to ensure the supply of medicines in the accident department.

Bus was travelling from Karachi to Buner
According to Motorway Police, the passenger bus was travelling from Karachi to Buner, while the van was on its way from Rawalpindi to Dir.
Officials said further investigation is underway, while initial information points to the van driver’s negligence as the cause of the fatal crash.
