A skydiver from Thailand, Tanaboworn Sirikunakornkun, known as “Super Toom”, has set a new world record after landing on the world’s highest active volcano.
According to Guinness World Records, he completed the landing on Ojos del Salado volcano in Chile at an altitude of 5,442 metres above sea level, marking the highest skydiving landing ever recorded.
He broke the previous record of 5,317 metres set in 2023.
The 48-year-old, who is also a real estate businessman and university professor, said the view from the height was extraordinarily beautiful.
He stated that the site was remarkable, with mineral colours creating a rainbow-like appearance across the volcano.
During the jump, his mobile phone slipped from his pocket as he exited the aircraft.
He began skydiving in 2024 and has since completed more than 1,250 jumps.
He said the aim of the record was to promote Thailand and bring pride to its people.
