The Punjab government has taken a major decision against honour killings by adopting a zero-tolerance policy across the province.
According to sources, the government has decided to expand the scope of CCD and hand over honour killing cases to the department.
Sources said the Punjab government has decided to bring cases of honour killing under CCD’s jurisdiction. The department will process cases involving the killing of a sister, daughter, wife or any woman in the name of honour.
The provincial government has decided that strict action will be taken against those involved in honour killings. Sources said the harshest legal action will be pursued against anyone who kills a woman in the name of honour.
