Pakistan has secured strategic reserves of petroleum products for June in view of rising tensions in the Middle East.
According to details that surfaced on Monday, officials of the Ministry of Petroleum said 446 metric tonnes of crude oil had been reserved for June, while arrangements had also been completed for 201 metric tonnes of diesel.
Officials said it was estimated that 98 metric tonnes of petrol would be obtained locally, while 18 metric tonnes of jet fuel had also been secured.
Sources said reserves of JP-8 fuel for 12 days had also been secured to ensure supplies remain unaffected in the event of an emergency. Arrangements for 18 metric tonnes of LPG for June have also been completed.
According to officials, Pakistan will work on a long-term energy security plan after the conflict comes to an end.
