Pakistan Test cricketers Azan Awais and Abdullah Fazal are among the domestic performers likely to receive central contracts for the upcoming season.
According to sources on Friday, the financial model for national cricketers’ central contracts will expire on June 30. Former Pakistan Cricket (PCB) chairman Zaka Ashraf had introduced the three-year financial model in 2023.
The new central contracts will come into effect from July 1, while discussions regarding the list of players are under way.
Last year, 30 cricketers were awarded central contracts, though no player was placed in Category A for the first time.
Sources said the chances of contracts for Mohammad Nawaz, Abdullah Shafique, Faheem Ashraf, Hussain Talat and Khushdil Shah are said to be limited.
Domestic performers, including Azan Awais and Abdullah Fazal, are likely to be included in the new contracts.
Mohsin Naqvi will take the final decision regarding the financial model, sources added.
