Former wicketkeeper Sarah Taylor has been appointed fielding coach of England’s men’s cricket team for the forthcoming Test series against New Zealand, marking a new chapter in men’s cricket.
Taylor has become the first woman to work as a coach with England’s men’s side in international cricket. She has been added to the coaching staff for the three-match Test series against New Zealand, with the opening Test due to begin on 4 June.
The decision is regarded as a significant milestone for women coaches in international sport.
Taylor, 36, represented England in 226 matches between 2006 and 2019 and is widely regarded among the finest wicketkeepers in the game.
She has previously worked in coaching roles with Sussex, Manchester Originals and the England Lions during the winter programme.
England men’s managing director Rob Key praised Taylor’s work and described her among the leading specialists in the field.
