Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated a strict zero-tolerance policy against corruption in law enforcement agencies while chairing an important meeting on law and order in Islamabad.
The meeting reviewed the overall security situation and the affairs of the Ministry of Interior.
The meeting focused on the performance and administrative matters of key institutions under the Ministry of Interior.
These included the FIA, Islamabad Police, NCCIA, Frontier Corps (FC), Capital Development Authority (CDA), and other related institutions.
The Interior Minister briefed the prime minister on the performance and ongoing development projects of these departments.
Separately, Usman Khan also provided updates regarding institutional performance and development initiatives.
PM Shehbaz’s key directives
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that all available resources will be used to ensure the protection of citizens’ lives and property.
He directed authorities to further strengthen the capacity of law enforcement agencies to effectively respond to security challenges.
The prime minister stressed the implementation of a strict zero-tolerance policy against corruption within all law enforcement agencies.
He said accountability and transparency are essential for improving public trust in security institutions.
Merit-based recruitment across institutions
Shehbaz Sharif instructed that recruitment in all institutions under the Ministry of Interior, including the FIA, must be ensured strictly on merit.
He emphasized that no compromise should be made on fairness in hiring processes.
The prime minister directed that law enforcement officials be equipped with modern training to deal with evolving security challenges.
He also ordered provision of the best equipment, modern technology, and improved facilities to strengthen operational efficiency.
During the briefing, the prime minister was informed that the under-construction jail in Islamabad is expected to become functional in September this year.
The update was shared as part of broader reforms and infrastructure development in the security sector.
