Pakistan’s law enforcement agencies have arrested a high-profile drug suspect identified as Anmol alias Pinky in Karachi.
Officials say the accused was allegedly involved in running a widespread cocaine network targeting multiple cities, including Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad.
According to police officials, the arrest was carried out in a joint operation by the District City Police and Civil Intelligence Agency in Karachi.
Authorities claim the suspect had been on the run in dozens of cases and was considered a key figure in an organized drug trafficking network.
During the operation, law enforcement reportedly recovered:
- Cocaine worth millions of rupees
- Chemical substances used in drug production
- Firearms and other weapons
Officials described the case as one of the largest recent crackdowns on synthetic drug production in the region.
Alleged nationwide drug supply network
Investigators allege that Anmol alias Pinky was supplying narcotics across multiple major cities, including Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad.
Police further claim the suspect operated a sophisticated distribution system and used different methods to avoid detection, including allegedly using female couriers within the network.
Authorities also allege the accused personally manufactured high-value cocaine and ran what they described as a “mobile drug production setup.”
Court appearance sparks controversy
Following the arrest, the suspect was presented in court without handcuffs, prompting criticism from senior police officials.
The Inspector General of Sindh Police, Javed Alam Odho, took notice of the incident and ordered an inquiry into possible procedural violations.
According to a police spokesperson, the officers involved in presenting the accused have been suspended for alleged negligence, and a detailed investigation has been launched.
A high-level committee has also been formed to review whether proper protocols were followed during the court appearance.
Karachi police leadership has also ordered a separate inquiry into the handling of the suspect during court proceedings.
Officials said that strict action would be taken if any violations of standard operating procedures are confirmed.
Police emphasized that all personnel are required to follow legal and security protocols when handling high-profile accused individuals.
