The Punjab cabinet has approved several major decisions, including summer vacations in schools, the Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar scheme and steps to support industry in the province.
The meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
During the cabinet meeting, tribute was paid to Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir on the completion of one year of the struggle for truth.
The cabinet felicitated them and acknowledged their role on the occasion.
Summer vacations approved
The Punjab cabinet approved summer vacations in schools from May 22 to August 24. The decision finalizes the school holiday schedule across the province.
Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar scheme approved
The cabinet approved the launch of the Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar scheme on easy terms for citizens of Cholistan and Kutch. Officials said 30,000 lots have been identified under the scheme.
Chief Minister Maryam directed that citizens should be able to access complete information about the scheme with a single click.
The cabinet also gave formal approval for the establishment of the fastest insurance company. The decision was among the key approvals taken during the provincial cabinet meeting.
Expansion of business park approved
The Punjab cabinet approved the expansion of another 200 acres of land in Quaid-e-Azam Business Park Sheikhupura. The move is aimed at supporting business activity and industrial development in the province.
The cabinet approved the implementation of the Axle Load Management System in Punjab. The system is expected to support better transport regulation and road infrastructure management.
CM promises full support for industry
The chief minister said anyone who wants to set up an industry in Punjab should do so and would receive full government support. She directed that industrialists should bring their construction plans and that the process of setting up industries should be made completely easy.
Maryam said there should be no obstacles or problems in NOCs and other approvals for industry. She also said spending first and sending bills later would not be accepted under any circumstances.
She directed that every expense must be reported in advance.
“I will not tolerate the mentality of burdening the government with liabilities,” Maryam Nawaz said, directing authorities to clear all financial liabilities.
Govt payments must be ensured
Maryam Nawaz said it was unacceptable for the government to get work done and then fail to pay.
“I absolutely do not accept that the government gets the work done and does not pay,” she said.
The chief minister stressed financial discipline and timely clearance of dues.
