Two humanoid robots appeared to trade punches and kicks inside a storefront in San Francisco’s Bay Area, in a video that has gone viral online and drawn comparisons with scenes from science-fiction films.
According to details, the contest marked the first public fight between Engine AI and Unitree models, offering what some described as a glimpse of robot combat entering the mainstream.
The footage was shared on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, by virtual reality innovator Six Liv. It showed two bipedal robots facing each other inside a temporary ring while a human referee supervised the contest.
A small crowd could be seen cheering as the robots exchanged punches, dodged attacks and performed unexpected movements.
The video later spread across several platforms, including Instagram, gathering thousands of views and reactions.
One user commented that the robots were being operated through remote controls and that the movements were not fully driven by artificial intelligence.
Another user joked that after “300 punches and kicks, only one lands and both collapse at the same time”.
A third user remarked sarcastically that instead of teaching robots to fight, they should be trained to wash dishes, do laundry and cook food, adding that “we do not need fighting robots”.
