Actor Akshay Kumar is reportedly taking a short break from work after undergoing minor eye surgery in Mumbai.
The 58-year-old star recently wrapped the Kerala schedule of his upcoming film with Vidya Balan and director Anees Bazmee.
According to media reports, the 'Khiladi' star underwent the procedure on Wednesday morning, May 6.
Hindustan Times, citing a source close to the development, reported that the surgery was minor and carried out for vision correction.
“It was a minor surgery carried out on the morning of May 6. It was for vision correction. Akshay will now take a brief break and recuperate since he has also completed the Kerala schedule of his next film with Anees Bazmee,” the source said.
Akshay had shared a short video with Vidya Balan when he headed to Kerala for the shoot. After completing the schedule, he also posted updates on Instagram.
The film marks Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan’s reunion after several successful collaborations over the years. It also reunites Akshay with director Anees Bazmee after nearly 15 years.
'Bhoot Bangla' continues strong box office run
Akshay is also enjoying the success of his recent release 'Bhoot Bangla'. The film, which reunited him with director Priyadarshan, has reportedly earned more than Rs232 crore at the worldwide box office.
Despite the short recovery break, Akshay has a busy lineup ahead. His upcoming projects include 'Welcome To The Jungle', 'Haiwaan', 'Golmaal 5' and the Marathi film 'Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat'.
