Citizens in Punjab have been advised to remain alert as the Meteorological Department has issued a severe weather warning for north-east Punjab.
Strong winds and rain are likely in several cities from today until May 13.
According to the Meteorological Department, a “super cell” is expected to form in different areas of Punjab between May 11 and May 13.
Officials said the weather may turn extremely severe during this period.
Thunderstorms are likely in Lahore, Kasur, Pattoki, Sheikhupura, Okara, Narowal, Sialkot and Gujranwala. Heavy rain is also possible in some areas, the Meteorological Department said.
Risk of hail, lightning and strong winds
Meteorological experts have warned that hail and lightning may occur in some areas during the spell. Strong winds could also pose a threat to weak infrastructure.
The Met Department has placed the administration of the concerned districts on high alert. Citizens have been directed to avoid unnecessary travel and take precautionary measures during the severe weather spell.
