Tremors were felt in the Rakhni area of Barkhan district in Balochistan.
According to details surfaced on Wednesday, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has said that the earthquake measured 5.0 on the Richter scale with a depth of 30 kilometres. The epicentre was located 12 kilometres south-west of Barkhan. No loss of life was reported as a result of the quake.
Earlier, last week, earthquake tremors were felt in Islamabad and several parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, causing residents in affected areas to rush out of their homes in fear. According to the Seismological Center, the earthquake had a magnitude of 5.7 and originated at a depth of 170 kilometers. Tremors were felt in Peshawar, Swat, Shangla, Abbottabad, Swabi, Malakand and Batkhela.
Residents in several areas said the tremors were strong enough to be clearly felt inside homes and buildings.
