A seven-foot-long alligator was seized while attempting to cross a busy highway in the US state of Florida and was later released into its natural habitat.
Officials said the incident took place in Hillsborough County, where sheriff’s deputies brought the reptile under control as it tried to make its way across a heavily trafficked road. According to the county sheriff’s office, personnel arrived at the scene alongside a licensed trapper after the animal was spotted attempting to cross North Dale Mabry Highway.
In a light-hearted social media post, the office remarked that when a “suspect” measures seven feet and carries 80 sharp teeth, backup is called.
Authorities confirmed the crossing attempt was safely halted and the alligator was relocated to a suitable aquatic and wild environment.
