During the briefing, officials said a record amount of Rs5,000 million has been allocated from the provincial Zakat fund for the Chief Minister Punjab Rehmat Card. Under the programme, 50,000 widows and orphans will be provided Rs100,000 each through the Rehmat Card.
Officials said the financial assistance is aimed at supporting deserving families and improving their economic stability.
Who will be eligible for Rehmat Card?
According to the briefing, Muslim widows and orphans who are legally entitled to Zakat will be eligible for assistance under the Rehmat Card programme.
The selection of beneficiaries will be carried out through the Punjab Socio-Economic Registry (PSER) database. Officials said the final selection will be made on the basis of district quota under the PSER database.
Officials clarified that government employees and pensioners will not be entitled to receive financial assistance through the Rehmat Card.
The briefing also stated that those who do not meet the required eligibility conditions will not qualify for the programme. In case an applicant is not registered, their data will be verified by NADRA.
How to apply for Punjab Rehmat Card
Applications for the Chief Minister Punjab Rehmat Card can be submitted through the official web portal: https://rahmatcard.punjab.gov.pk
Officials said applicants can also apply through a mobile app. For information about the Chief Minister Punjab Rehmat Card programme, citizens can contact the helpline at 1077.
Financial assistance under the Chief Minister Punjab Rehmat Card will be paid through a JazzCash Wallet account. On the instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the Punjab government will pay the Jazz Wallet account service charges.
Officials said this step has been taken to ensure that beneficiaries receive the full amount of assistance without extra financial burden.
Maryam orders transparent use of Zakat funds
Chief Minister Maryam directed authorities to ensure transparent, fair and merit-based use of Zakat funds under the Rehmat Card programme. She said the aim of the Rehmat Card Programme is to ensure the social dignity and economic independence of deserving people.
