Federal Minister for IT Shaza Fatima has said Pakistan is moving toward a digital and cashless market under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision of Digital Pakistan.
Addressing the Pakistan-EU Business Forum, she said the role of the internet has become essential for every sector, including health, education, business and public services.
Shaza Fatima said the internet plays an extremely important role in every sector of the economy and society. She said better internet services can provide convenience to citizens with just one click, making access to services easier and faster.
The minister added that digital connectivity is also important for improving the health and education sectors.
Pakistan heading toward cashless market
The federal minister said Pakistan is moving toward a digital cashless market. She said a cashless economy can help reduce fraud and improve transparency in financial transactions.
According to Shaza Fatima, digital payments and online services are becoming increasingly important as the country modernizes its economy.
She said the government is equipping young people with modern technology according to the requirements of the global market, addding that Pakistan’s youth must be prepared for international digital and technology trends
The minister added that modern skills will help young Pakistanis compete in the global economy.
The IT minister said gaps in services and opportunities can be bridged through standard internet service and modern technology. She said better connectivity would help reduce differences in access to education, healthcare, business and public services.
Shaza Fatima stressed that technology can support inclusion and development across Pakistan.
Digital Pakistan is PM Shehbaz’s vision
Shaza Fatima said Digital Pakistan is the vision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. She said the country is moving toward a digital Pakistan in line with the prime minister’s vision.
The minister added that the government is working to strengthen digital infrastructure and expand technology access for citizens.
The federal minister said 3G and 4G internet services were launched in Pakistan in 2016. She added that the bidding process for 5G spectrum was successfully completed a month ago.
Shaza Fatima said the number of mobile phone users in the country is increasing, making digital connectivity even more important.
