A protocol vehicle of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz caught fire on the Ring Road in Lahore on Monday evening, rescue officials said.
The BMW was completely destroyed in the blaze. Rescue teams reached the scene soon after receiving information and brought the fire under control after firefighting efforts.
According to rescue officials, only the driver was present in the vehicle at the time of the accident. The driver remained safe, and no casualties were reported in the incident.
Police sources said Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz was returning to her residence in Jati Umra when the incident occurred. Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was also present with Maryam Nawaz at the time, according to police sources. They were returning from Fazaia Housing Society when the protocol vehicle caught fire.
Initial investigation revealed that the BMW involved in the incident had previously been taken to a workshop twice due to a technical fault. Authorities said the exact cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

Police officials said an investigation is underway to determine what caused the fire in the Punjab chief minister’s protocol vehicle.
Authorities are reviewing the circumstances of the accident, including the vehicle’s reported technical issues, to establish the reason behind the blaze.
