A major development has emerged in the child recovery case in Quetta, where investigators say the woman suspect of kidnapping a four-year-old boy turned out to be his aunt.
According to the Serious Crime Investigation Wing, the suspect is a medical student who allegedly kidnapped her cousin’s son for a ransom of $60,000.
The case shocked the family after investigators found that the alleged kidnapping was not carried out by a stranger, but by someone close to the child. The Serious Crime Investigation Wing said the suspect is a medical student.
Suspect wanted to go to France
According to SCIW officials, the suspect wanted to travel to France to become a doctor. Investigators said she allegedly planned the kidnapping to arrange money for that purpose.
The ransom demand was set at $60,000, officials said.
The child involved in the case is the four-year-old son of the suspect woman’s cousin. According to the Serious Crime Investigation Wing, the boy was kidnapped for ransom as part of the alleged plan.
Officials did not immediately share further details about how the child was recovered.
More suspects involved, raids underway
SCIW officials said other suspect persons are also involved in the case. Raids are being conducted to arrest them, investigators added.
Authorities said further progress is expected as the investigation continues.
