A local leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Haji Sadre, was shot dead by unidentified persons in the Segram area of Tehsil Kabal in Swat, police said.
His uncle, Farid Khan, was also injured in the firing and shifted to hospital for medical treatment.
According to police, the shooting took place in Tehsil Kabal Segram, where unidentified assailants opened fire on Haji Sadre. Police confirmed that Haji Sadre, a local PML-N leader, lost his life in the attack.
Officials said the body was shifted to the hospital after the incident.
Former peace committee leader
Police said the deceased, Haji Sadre, had also served as a former leader of the peace committee. His killing has raised concern in the area, particularly because of his political and community role.
Authorities have not yet provided details about the motive behind the attack.
Uncle shifted to hospital
Haji Sadre’s uncle, Farid Khan, was injured in the same shooting incident. Police said Farid Khan was shifted to the hospital for treatment.
Both the body and the injured person were moved to the hospital after the firing.
Police said the attackers were unknown and further investigation was underway. Authorities are expected to collect evidence from the scene and record statements to determine who was behind the attack.
No arrest was immediately reported.
