Security forces and law enforcement agencies killed 22 terrorists during a major joint operation in Khyber district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations.
A 10-year-old innocent child was also martyred when terrorists opened indiscriminate fire during the exchange, ISPR said.
According to ISPR, security forces and law enforcement agencies launched a joint operation in Khyber district after receiving information about the presence of terrorists. The operation was carried out against Indian-backed Fitna-ul-Khawarij elements, described by authorities as enemies of peace.
During the exchange of fire, 22 terrorists were killed.
Child martyred in terrorists’ firing
ISPR said the terrorists opened indiscriminate fire after fearing they would be captured alive. As a result, a 10-year-old innocent child was martyred.
Officials said the martyrdom of the child had further strengthened the resolve of the state and security forces to completely eradicate terrorism from the country.
Terrorists wanted by forces
The Pakistan Army spokesperson said the killed terrorists were involved in several terrorist activities in the area. They were wanted by security forces for their role in attacks and operations against peace in the region.
ISPR said Pakistan’s land has been narrowed for Indian-backed terrorists, and operations will continue until all such elements are eliminated.
A large quantity of arms, ammunition and explosives was recovered from the possession and hideouts of the terrorists.
Security forces also launched a clearance operation in the area to eliminate any remaining foreign-backed elements. According to ISPR, anti-terrorism operations will continue with full intensity.
ISPR said the war against terrorism would continue with full force. The military’s media wing said the sacrifices of innocent civilians strengthen the national resolve to wipe out terrorism completely.
President Zardari praises security forces
President Asif Ali Zardari paid tribute to the security forces for the successful operation. He said terrorists want to weaken Pakistan’s peace efforts, but they will not succeed.
The president appreciated the bravery and professionalism of the forces involved in the Khyber operation.
PM says child’s martyrdom unforgivable
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also praised the security forces for the successful operation. He said the martyrdom of an innocent child was an unforgivable crime against humanity.
The prime minister said Pakistan’s war against terrorism would continue until terrorism is completely eradicated.
Naqvi vows elimination of terrorists
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said the brave security forces are determined to eliminate the terrorists of Fitna-ul-Khawarij.
He said the nation stands firmly behind the security forces. Naqvi added that, with national support, the terrorists of Fitna-ul-Khawarij would be completely eliminated.
