A heatwave alert has been issued for Lahore as temperatures climbed to 38 degrees Celsius, making conditions increasingly harsh across the city.
With no rain in sight and unannounced load shedding continuing for up to eight hours, residents are being urged to take extra precautions. The intensity of heat has increased sharply in Lahore, where the temperature has reached 38°C, according to the Meteorological Department.
Officials say the feels-like temperature could rise to 41°C, making outdoor conditions even more difficult for residents during the day.
In response to the rising temperatures, the Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave alert for the city. The weather has been described as extremely hot, dry, and completely clear, with no chance of rain in the coming period.
Humidity in Lahore was recorded at 32%, adding to the discomfort caused by the dry heat.
Dangerous UV levels
Authorities have also warned that the UV index has reached a dangerous level, especially between 11am and 2pm. Citizens have been advised to avoid direct sun exposure from 12 noon to 4pm, when the heat is expected to be at its peak.
The heatwave alert carries a special warning for elderly people, children, and those who are ill, who are considered more vulnerable in extreme weather.
Residents have been urged to drink more water, stay hydrated, and avoid dehydration, as temperatures continue to remain high.
Unannounced load shedding
At the same time, Lesco’s unannounced load shedding is continuing across Lahore, adding to the difficulties caused by the heatwave.
Power outages lasting six to eight hours are being reported not only in the inner city but also in posh areas, affecting daily life in multiple neighborhoods.
The combination of extreme heat, dangerous UV exposure, and prolonged electricity cuts is creating a tough situation for Lahoris.
