A significant development has emerged in efforts to expand digital connectivity in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Under the Special Communication Organisation (SCO), the provision of 4G services in remote regions continues at pace.
The SCO is installing a total of 47 new 4G towers across Gilgit-Baltistan and AJK, of which eleven have already been made operational. In addition, 53 out of 87 sites have been upgraded to enhance service quality.
Officials said that work to streamline the communication network in Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan will be completed by December 2026. The project aims to extend modern digital facilities to remote areas and strengthen connectivity.
Improved digital access is expected to create new opportunities in education, business and employment in both regions. The SCO has remained committed to providing modern services nationwide under the vision of Digital Pakistan.
