Residents of Islamabad are experiencing relief as load shedding has been reduced following an improvement in the country’s power supply situation.
The reduction comes after increased water discharge from dams boosted hydropower generation, helping to bring the national electricity shortfall down to 3,000 megawatts. At present, total electricity generation stands at 16,010 megawatts against a demand of 19,000 megawatts.
Officials say improved weather conditions have also contributed to lower electricity demand, further stabilizing supply in the federal capital.
The Power Division has directed distribution companies (DISCOs) to immediately end unannounced load shedding in Islamabad and ensure that daily load shedding schedules are updated regularly for public awareness.
Authorities remain hopeful that continued increases in water discharge will further enhance power generation, leading to even greater relief for consumers in Islamabad in the coming days.
