A family in the United States has been reunited with their pet cat after it had been missing for five years.
According to the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter in Texas, the cat was brought to their facility in late March this year. When staff scanned the animal’s microchip, they were able to retrieve the owners’ contact information.
The cat’s owner said his wife received an email notifying them that the microchip had been found. They then checked the shelter’s “lost and found” page, where they recognized their beloved pet.
Shelter officials were surprised to learn that the cat, named “Kit Kat,” had been missing for five years before finally being found and returned to its family.
