A powerful explosion near a police vehicle in Lakki Marwat injured seven people, including five police officers, in a suspected targeted attack. The blast occurred as the police team was heading out for routine patrol.
The incident took place near Shahbazkhel Adda in Lakki Marwat, where a bomb exploded close to a police vehicle belonging to the Shahbazkhel police station.
According to police, the explosion struck the police mobile as it was leaving the station and entering the Indus Highway for routine patrol duty.
At least seven people were injured in the blast, including five police personnel. Among the injured is Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Jamal Din, while two civilians were also caught in the explosion.
All injured individuals were immediately shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for medical treatment, police confirmed.
Bomb planted in motorcycle
Initial investigations suggest that the explosive material was planted inside a motorcycle.
Police officials stated that the motorcycle bomb was detonated as the police vehicle passed nearby, indicating a planned attack targeting law enforcement.
Following the blast, a heavy contingent of police rushed to the scene and cordoned off the area. A search operation was launched to track down those responsible and to ensure no further threats remained in the vicinity.
The attack underscores ongoing security challenges in the region, particularly targeting police and law enforcement personnel.
Authorities have not yet released further details about the suspects, but investigations are underway to determine the perpetrators and motive behind the attack.
