Pakistan’s petroleum supply remains stable, the government said after a high-level review meeting chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb.
Officials assured that fuel stocks are sufficient and supply chains are operating smoothly across the country.
A meeting of the Petroleum Price Monitoring Committee, chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, reviewed the country’s fuel situation. The committee declared that the supply of petroleum products is stable, with no immediate shortages reported.
Fuel stocks sufficient
During the briefing, officials informed the meeting that diesel stocks are sufficient for approximately 25 days. The availability of petrol is being maintained as per current demand, ensuring smooth supply for consumers.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Petroleum reported that crude oil reserves are sufficient for around 12 days.
Authorities confirmed that the import plan and oil supply chain are continuing as per schedule. Refineries across the country are operating at full capacity, helping maintain a steady supply of petroleum products.
Energy supply vital for key sectors
The meeting emphasized that energy supply remains critical for agriculture, industry, and transport sectors. Ensuring uninterrupted fuel availability was highlighted as essential for economic stability.
Finance Minister Aurangzeb stressed the need to prevent hoarding and artificial shortages in the market. He directed authorities to take strict action against illegal hoarding and market irregularities to protect consumers.
The committee also reviewed the gas supply situation in the country. Officials discussed the gas distribution formula for domestic and power sectors, focusing on efficient allocation.
Focus on LPG usage
The meeting highlighted the need to increase the use of LPG as an alternative energy source. This step aims to reduce pressure on conventional fuel supplies.
The finance minister emphasized the use of OGRA’s digital dashboard for better monitoring. He directed officials to include data from more than 12,000 petrol pumps in the system and improve overall data reporting.
Authorities instructed Pakistan State Oil (PSO) to enhance monitoring of its pump network. A decision was also made to deploy joint inspection teams at PSO pumps in Islamabad to ensure compliance and transparency.
