In a move aimed at providing relief to citizens, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has abolished motorcycle and rickshaw transfer fees for one month.
The decision was approved through a newly passed amendment bill in the provincial assembly.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly unanimously approved the Motorcycle Registration Amendment Bill, paving the way for the temporary relief. The bill was presented as a private member’s bill by government member Dawood Shah Afridi.
Under the new amendment law, transfer fees for motorcycles and rickshaws have been completely waived for one month. Previously, the motorcycle transfer fee was Rs500, while the rickshaw transfer fee stood at Rs800.
Additional charges also removed
The relief package goes beyond transfer fees. The amendment bill also abolishes number plate fees and smart card charges during the same one-month period.
Authorities confirmed that PRM (Personal Registration Mark) fees have also been waived. Before the amendment, the PRM fee for motorcycles was Rs2,300, while for rickshaws it was Rs2,600.
Relief measure for vehicle owners
The move is expected to provide financial relief to thousands of vehicle owners looking to transfer ownership or complete registration-related processes.
Officials say the temporary waiver is part of broader efforts to ease the burden on the public.
