Rawalpindiz have suffered a major setback in PSL 11 as star pacer Naseem Shah has been ruled out with a side injury. His participation in the remaining matches is now uncertain, leaving the team struggling further in the tournament.
Rawalpindi fast bowler Naseem Shah has been sidelined for an indefinite period due to a side injury sustained during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 11.
According to the franchise, his participation in the remaining matches of the tournament is doubtful, with a final decision on his return to be made after rehabilitation and fitness clearance.
The right-arm pacer picked up the injury during a recent match against Karachi Kings, forcing him out of action. Team management confirmed that he will remain unavailable for the foreseeable future, with medical staff closely monitoring his recovery.
Return depends on recovery
The franchise stated that Naseem Shah could potentially return towards the latter stages of the tournament, depending on his progress in rehabilitation. However, his comeback will only be considered once he receives full fitness clearance.
Despite the setback, Rawalpindiz management expressed strong support for the 23-year-old pacer.
The team described his presence as invaluable and reaffirmed their commitment to helping him recover, adding that they look forward to seeing him return stronger than ever.
Naseem Shah’s injury comes after a difficult start to the tournament. He managed just one wicket against Karachi Kings and had earlier gone wicketless while conceding 51 runs in his opening match for Rawalpindiz.
The development further compounds Rawalpindiz’s struggles in PSL 11. The team has lost all three of their opening matches and currently sits seventh on the points table, just above fellow winless side Hyderabad Kingsmen.
Controversy adds pressure
Naseem Shah had already faced a setback at the start of the tournament after being found in breach of several clauses of the PCB central contract and social media guidelines.
Naseem later clarified that his account had been hacked, calling it a security breach rather than a personal statement. Following a hearing by a three-member disciplinary committee, the PCB imposed a Rs20 million fine on the fast bowler.
