A wave of violence struck Bannu as three people, including two policemen, were martyred in separate firing incidents. The attacks, carried out by unidentified armed men, have raised fresh security concerns in the region.
According to initial reports, two separate incidents of firing took place in Bannu, resulting in the martyrdom of three individuals.
In the first incident, unknown armed men opened fire on a policeman near the Miryan Kangar Bridge area, martyring Constable Sher Muhammad.
In a second incident near Mandi Bakakhel, unidentified attackers targeted security personnel. As a result, policeman Rafiullah and security guard Gul Shah Noor were martyred in the line of duty.
Attack linked to terrorists near NADRA office
Reports indicate that the firing outside a NADRA office in Bannu was carried out by terrorists, highlighting the ongoing threat posed by militant elements in the area.
Police officials reached both sites promptly after the incidents and have launched investigations to trace the attackers.
Interior minister condemns attack
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi strongly condemned the firing incident outside the NADRA office. He paid tribute to the martyred policeman and security guard, acknowledging their sacrifice in the line of duty.
Naqvi expressed heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the families of the martyred officials. He stated that Constable Rafiullah and Guard Gul Shah Noor attained the status of martyrdom while performing their duties with courage.
The interior minister emphasized that both officials set an example of bravery by sacrificing their lives and assured that the government stands with the bereaved families in their time of grief.
