A pet dove in the United States has set a new record as the world’s oldest living dove.
According to Guinness World Records, the dove—named Sugar—earned the title at the age of 44 years and 72 days.
Sugar belongs to Chesterfield resident Divine Orrender, who revealed that the bird surpassed the previous record held by a German dove named Methuselah by a remarkable 15 years.
Typically, pet doves have an expected lifespan of around 20 years, making Sugar’s age extraordinary.
The 77-year-old owner shared that Sugar’s parents were also his pets before her. He added that Sugar enjoys sitting with him on the couch and watching television together, highlighting the close bond between them.
