The government has decided to implement a digital fuel management system at petrol pumps across the country.
In light of the tense situation in the Middle East, authorities have completed preparations to tackle a potential petroleum crisis. Under the new system, citizens will be allocated a fixed petrol quota for their private vehicles.
The Ministry of IT has completed testing mobile phones and the fuel management application to be provided at petrol pumps. Details of the project have been submitted by the Ministry of IT to the Cabinet Division for approval.
Each petrol pump will be supplied with a mobile phone valued at Rs72,000, with the funding for the devices provided by oil marketing companies.
