In a move linked to an austerity campaign, the Punjab Health Department has announced that first and second year MBBS classes will be held online on Fridays and Saturdays.
The decision, notified officially, aims to manage resources while ensuring continuity of medical education.
According to the notification, first and second year MBBS classes in Punjab will shift to online mode on Fridays and Saturdays. The policy will remain in effect until further orders, signaling a temporary but ongoing adjustment under the austerity drive.
Senior MBBS classes on campus
The department clarified that third, fourth, and final year MBBS classes will continue as usual. There will be no shift to online learning for senior students, ensuring that their clinical and academic training remains uninterrupted.
As per the official letter, nursing and allied health students will continue performing duties in hospitals. This decision highlights the importance of maintaining healthcare services and practical training despite adjustments in academic schedules.
