Strong tremors were felt across various cities in Punjab, prompting the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) to issue an alert across the province.
The earthquake was experienced in multiple areas, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Jhelum, causing panic among residents as the ground shook. The PDMA has directed all district administrations to assess any potential damage.
According to the Seismological Center, the earthquake measured 5.3 on the Richter scale.
Initial reports indicate that no loss of life or property has been reported so far. However, Rescue 1122 and other emergency services have been instructed to remain on high alert and prepared to respond to any emergency situation.
Experts have warned of possible aftershocks, leading the PDMA to urge citizens to remain cautious. People have been advised to stay away from poles and unsafe or dilapidated buildings in case of further tremors.
