Prime Minister Akhtar Wali Khan’s coordinator for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Akhtar Wali Khan, addressed a press conference highlighting the government’s efforts to provide relief to the public amid rising global petroleum prices.
He stated that fuel prices are increasing worldwide, with turmoil in key oil-producing regions. Despite this, the Prime Minister is extending subsidies to support the underprivileged.
Transport services in Islamabad have been made free, and increases in railway fares have been halted. Khan emphasized that the Prime Minister is making every possible effort to provide relief to citizens.
Criticizing the opposition, he said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Timur Jhagra had mismanaged the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa treasury. “Apart from labeling shoes and caps with ‘Prisoner No. 804,’ they have done nothing. Where did the 13 billion rupees go?” he questioned, referring to funds allegedly distributed by the KP Chief Minister as part of a Ramadan package among ministers and advisors.
Khan added that the opposition has no agenda beyond “dirty politics” and challenged them to account for promises, such as the establishment of 34 universities that were never realized. He urged citizens to remain confident, stating, “The Prime Minister is not unaware of the people’s concerns. Now is the time for national unity, and everyone should stay away from propaganda.”
