Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan praised emerging cricketer Sameer Minhas for his unbeaten 82 against Quetta Gladiators on Thursday.
Shadab, who himself scored an unbeaten 69 and took three wickets to claim the player of the match award, said the team tried to keep their plan simple.
He acknowledged that he did not play as well as Sameer Minhas, adding that everyone was aware of Minhas’s talent from his performances with the Pakistan U-19 team.
Shadab said he advised Sameer to play a long innings, while he managed the run rate and stepped in with boundaries when Minhas faced difficulty.
He mentioned that in tournaments, the team gives performances wherever needed, and in Twenty20 cricket, good days are rare, so he tries to make the most of them when they arrive.
