A high-level meeting chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti reviewed the law and order situation and the repatriation of Afghan refugees in the province.
Officials gave detailed briefings on security conditions, the return of Afghan refugees, and efforts to curb hawala-hundi, extortion and smuggling.
The meeting decided to utilize the services of the Federal Constabulary to help maintain peace in Balochistan. In the first phase, around 3,000 personnel comprising two wings of the force will be deployed.
Participants also decided to make the Federal Investigation Agency more active in the province and to fill all vacant posts with local recruits.
The meeting agreed to strengthen monitoring of anti-state activities on social media and accelerate action against elements involved in baseless propaganda against the state.
The federal government assured the Balochistan government of full cooperation in maintaining law and order.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said the federal government would extend all possible support to enhance the professional capacity of the police, adding that authorities are fully aware of the situation in Balochistan and will provide every possible assistance for peace.
Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti said the government is confronting terrorism with full determination, stressing that the fight against terrorism is not only the responsibility of security forces but of the entire nation.
He added that the writ of the state will be ensured at all costs and noted that no highway in Balochistan is currently blocked in the name of protest.
Both leaders emphasized that terrorism will be defeated through national unity.
