New leaks are shedding light on the next generation of Samsung foldable phones.
The wider version of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 is reportedly set to arrive with a larger battery and improved multimedia experience.
According to a well-known tipster, the device could feature a 4,800mAh battery, offering a slight upgrade over the current foldable lineup.
Tipster Digital Chat Station claims that the wider variant of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 will come equipped with a 4,800mAh battery.
The device is reportedly powered by two battery cells rated at 2,267mAh and 2,293mAh, resulting in a combined rated capacity of 4,660mAh.
If the leak proves accurate, the battery would be larger than the 4,400mAh unit used in the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7. However, it would still be smaller than the battery expected in the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold.
Foldable display and design details
The tipster also suggests that the phone will feature a 7.6-inch foldable display.
While this screen size is slightly smaller than the foldable display found on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, the wider aspect ratio could make the device better suited for watching videos and running tablet-optimized applications.
Reports indicate the phone could be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset.
In terms of photography, the device is rumored to feature a 200MP primary camera, a 50MP ultrawide camera, and a 10MP telephoto camera—a setup similar to what is expected on the standard Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8.
Samsung’s foldable lineup for 2026
Samsung is expected to unveil three foldable smartphones in mid-2026:
-
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8
-
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8
-
A wider variant of the Galaxy Z Fold 8
Earlier reports had already revealed the battery capacity of the Galaxy Z Flip 8, indicating that Samsung is gradually refining its foldable lineup.
The year 2026 could become a turning point for the foldable smartphone market.
Reports suggest Apple may enter the segment with a foldable Apple foldable iPhone, which could feature a display with almost no visible crease.
At the same time, Samsung is rumored to be working on similar crease-free display technology for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and its wider version.
