Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone has raised alarm over Mumbai’s worsening air quality, calling on authorities to take urgent steps to tackle the crisis.
Thick smog blanketed several areas of the city, reducing visibility and making it difficult for residents to breathe. Deepika shared a photo of the fog-covered city on her Instagram Story, tagging the municipal corporation and the public health department.
“This city (and its children) are suffocating! How can this be okay?” she wrote, highlighting the health risks posed by the pollution.
Citizens have noted that air quality in Mumbai has steadily declined since February, with actress Richa Chadha also describing the situation as a man-made calamity requiring louder public voices.
Deepika is set to appear alongside Shah Rukh Khan in the upcoming film ‘King,’ scheduled for release in December 2026.
