Two oil tankers carrying fuel from the United Arab Emirates have safely arrived in Karachi under the protection of the Pakistan Navy, providing relief to the country’s fuel supply amid regional tensions.
Officials say the arrival of the vessels is expected to help stabilize petroleum availability in Pakistan.
Two oil tankers reached Karachi from the UAE’s port city of Fujairah, according to sources from the Karachi Port Trust (KPT).
The vessels were escorted safely to Karachi under the protection of the Pakistan Navy, ensuring secure transportation amid concerns over maritime security in the region.
Both ships belong to the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC).
Over 100m liters of oil delivered
According to KPT sources, the tankers transported between 100 and 120 million liters of oil from Fujairah to Karachi.
The shipment is expected to play a crucial role in ensuring a stable fuel supply across the country, particularly as global energy markets remain volatile.
Officials believe the arrival of these oil shipments will help ease pressure on domestic fuel availability.
Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar expressed appreciation for the Pakistan Navy’s role in ensuring the safe transfer of the oil tankers. He thanked naval authorities for successfully escorting the vessels to Karachi despite challenging regional conditions.
Efforts underway to secure two more stranded ships
The minister also highlighted concerns about two other Pakistani ships currently stranded in the Persian Gulf. Junaid Anwar said efforts are underway to ensure the safety of these vessels and facilitate their secure movement.
He added that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has contacted Iran and taken immediate diplomatic steps to address the situation.
Officials are continuing to monitor developments to ensure the safe passage of Pakistani vessels operating in the region.
