The Punjab government has announced the temporary closure of all colleges and universities across the province for on-campus learning.
The directive applies to both public and private institutions, with academic activities shifting to online teaching from March 10 to 31.
According to the official notification, all colleges and universities in Punjab will remain closed for physical classes from March 10 until 31. The decision applies to both government and private sector higher education institutions across the province.
During this period, campuses will remain closed for on-site academic activities and classroom learning.
Institutions directed to switch to online teaching
Authorities have instructed educational institutions to shift all teaching activities to an online mode during the closure period. Colleges and universities have been advised to continue academic sessions virtually so that students’ learning is not disrupted.

Officials emphasized that heads of institutions will be responsible for ensuring compliance with the directive and making necessary arrangements for online classes and academic activities.
Institutional heads responsible for implementation
The notification clearly states that vice chancellors, principals and heads of institutions must ensure the smooth implementation of online learning.
They are required to organize digital teaching schedules, coordinate with faculty and facilitate students during the temporary closure of campuses.

Examination schedules remain unchanged
Despite the suspension of on-campus teaching, examinations will continue according to the previously announced schedule.
Authorities clarified that any exams already scheduled by universities or colleges will be conducted as planned, ensuring academic timelines remain intact.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet also approved a series of fuel conservation measures aimed at reducing government expenses and tackling rising energy costs. The new policy, which will remain in effect for two months, focuses on cutting fuel consumption in government departments while ensuring that the public is not burdened.

The cabinet also discussed a proposal to keep educational institutions closed on Fridays as a way to reduce fuel consumption. Under the proposal, virtual classes would be preferred on that day to maintain academic continuity while saving energy.
Moreover, the Balochistan government also announced the temporary closure of all public and private educational institutions across the province.
According to the official notification, schools, colleges, and universities will remain closed from March 9 to 23. Authorities stated that the decision was taken in light of the current regional situation.
Officials explained that the move considers public convenience, given challenges in transportation and mobility.
