Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz met with Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik to review the situation caused by the ongoing war and assess the supply and demand of petroleum products.
According to details surfaced on Sunday, the meeting examined in detail the supply, demand, and reserves of petroleum products in Punjab. Attendees agreed on adopting a conservation policy to maintain balance amid the challenging conditions caused by the conflict.
Briefings were given on the reserves of petrol, diesel, LNG, and other fuels. Officials highlighted that, in view of the global crisis, immediate steps for fuel conservation and efficiency were essential.
Maryam Nawaz emphasised the need to ensure diesel availability for agricultural purposes, stating that farmers must not face any difficulties.
The meeting resolved to continuously monitor petroleum reserves. The Chief Minister instructed strict action against hoarders and directed all district administrations to maintain constant oversight of fuel supplies.
She also ordered the para and transport departments to monitor the situation and take necessary measures, ensuring that the public does not queue unnecessarily at petrol pumps and that no fuel is sold above the fixed rates anywhere in Punjab.
Maryam Nawaz stated that the nation must demonstrate steadfastness to overcome the current challenge, and immediate decisions were essential to safeguard the economy.
