The University of Karachi has decided to conduct morning classes online due to rising petrol prices and ongoing transport problems. The temporary measure will remain in effect from March 9 until the end of Ramazan.
Facing a sharp increase in petroleum product prices and transport-related difficulties, the University of Karachi administration has decided to move morning classes online.
According to an official notification, all morning classes will be conducted online starting March 9. The arrangement will continue until the end of the holy month of Ramazan.
The university administration issued the notification with the approval of the vice chancellor. Officials said the decision was taken to facilitate students who are facing commuting challenges due to higher fuel prices and transport issues in the city.
Convenience of students
According to the notification, the move aims to ensure the convenience of students while maintaining the continuity of academic activities.
Under the new arrangement, all morning sessions at the University of Karachi will take place online, allowing students to attend classes remotely during the specified period.
Federal Urdu University also shifts online
Meanwhile, the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST) has also announced changes to its teaching schedule. According to the announcement, teaching activities at the Karachi campus will be conducted online starting March 11.
The university administration said the decision was made in view of the holy month of Ramazan and to facilitate students and faculty.
Semester break for Karachi campus
The administration of Federal Urdu University has further announced that the semester break at the Karachi campus will begin on March 16, 2026.
This schedule adjustment is part of the broader plan to manage academic activities during Ramazan.
Islamabad campus to remain online until March 27
Federal Urdu University has also announced that classes at its Islamabad campus will be conducted online from March 9 to March 27.
Officials said the move is intended to maintain academic continuity while accommodating students during Ramazan.
