The Punjab government has begun work on the remodelling project of Murree’s Mall Road at a cost of Rs6 billion.
Under the scheme, the historic Mall Road will be upgraded. Work has already started after an old building standing on the road was demolished for the purpose.
The Punjab government is acquiring around 20 kanals of land for completion of the project.
According to the administration, compensation is being paid to affected individuals under the heads of loss of business, cost of structure and land.
Officials said that after the remodelling, Mall Road will be restored to its original historic and traditional design so that improved facilities can be provided to residents and tourists.
