The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has launched an investigation after reports emerged that several members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa karate team went missing during a sports tour to Russia.
Officials said the inquiry began after authorities received a complaint regarding the disappearance of players during the Nation Cup Karate tournament in Moscow.
According to FIA officials, the agency initiated an inquiry after receiving a formal complaint about missing players and team members during the international karate event.
Authorities said the reports indicate that some members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa karate team went missing during the tour to Russia. The incident reportedly occurred while the team was participating in the Nation Cup Karate tournament in Moscow.
Allegations of attempts to send people to Europe
Officials involved in the investigation said preliminary information suggests an attempt may have been made to involve unrelated individuals in the team’s travel arrangements.
According to the FIA, there are concerns that certain individuals may have tried to facilitate their escape to Europe using the sports tour as a cover.
Investigators are currently examining these allegations as part of the ongoing probe.
Coaches, members from Khyber under scrutiny
FIA officials confirmed that coaches and team members from Landi Kotal in Khyber district are also being investigated in connection with the case.
Authorities said the inquiry will look into the role of various individuals involved in organizing or accompanying the tour.
The FIA spokesperson said the agency will examine all members of the team who participated in the Moscow event. Investigators will also question all players and accompanying members to determine the circumstances surrounding the reported disappearances.
Officials added that the investigation is ongoing and further details will emerge once the inquiry progresses.
